Chapter 11

MELISSA SHIVERED AS TY'S GAZE RAKED OVER HER NAKED BODY. Heat shimmered through her and goose bumps raced across her skin.

He tugged off his jacket and threw it over her shoulders. She grasped the lapels from the inside and pul ed it closed, hiding her naked breasts. He's protecting me again. The thought skimmed through her consciousness.

Ty pul ed on the chain and led Melissa toward the door. She fel in step behind him, holding the fabric of his jacket close to her. The heat of his body still emanating from the garment, and his uniquely masculine scent, warmed her.

He led her down the hal and into the elevator. Away from the crowd. He pushed the button for the next floor up and the elevator started moving. Neither of them said a word. It was such a strange situation. Melissa felt like she was in a trance.

Where was he taking her? Somewhere quiet where she could col ect herself?

The elevator stopped and the doors parted. He stepped forward and the chain grew taut, tugging her after him.

At the end of the hal , he opened a door and led her inside, then locked it behind him.

She glanced around. The room was lit by torches mounted on the gray stone wal s. Several long, thick chains hung from the ceiling. Attached to one wall were several pairs of chains, each about eight inches long, with clasps dangling from the other end. They looked like the clip her youngest sister, Ginny, used to attach her car keys to the outside of her purse, but bigger and thicker. Stronger.

The place had the feel of a dungeon. Why had he brought her here?

Ty unlatched the chain from each of the metal bands at her wrist, freeing her wrists from each other at the same time. Good, she would feel more like herself when these darned metal bonds were off her.

But instead of freeing her wrists completely, Ty wrapped his hand firmly around her wrist and led her forward.

She couldn't shake herself out of her trancelike state as she followed him. He grasped a chain hanging from the wall and lifted her arm upward, then flicked the clip onto the ring of her wrist strap.

The sharp chink of metal against metal cut through her daze.

"What are you doing?"

When he grasped her other wrist, she tried to back away, but he held her firmly. He lifted her arm as he eased her around to face him and his jacket slipped from her shoulders and fel to the floor, leaving her breasts naked.

The nipples hardened, more because of his fervent, masculine gaze than because of the cold. He pressed her back against the stone wall, cold and hard against her naked back.

The blatant hunger in his eyes frightened her a little, yet at the same time, excited her.

"No," she protested as he clamped a chain to her other wristband. The metal links clanked together as she tugged her hands forward, pulling against the restraints. "Let me go.
